Local port identity as a key asset for building a lasting relationship
Encouraging the creation of Port Centres.
How to inform and engage citizens and stakeholders in discussions surrounding port activities?
There are several ways to promote better knowledge and understanding of the port. A way that is more ambitious than port museums is the creation of “Port Centres”. Visitors can learn about the modern port’s day-to-day life and a range of potential future careers through an interactive approach. AIVP supports this social integration-oriented approach through the “Port Centre Network” initiative launched in 2011. The Port of Lorient is part of this network, and in 2016 launched its Port Centre; additionally, since 1990, the port has carried a Science and Maritime Centre, another good way of keeping citizens engaged.
