Le Havre (France): making the shipyard transparent to all

Special attention must be paid to developing the port-city interface and the links between these two worlds (bridges, footpaths, etc.). This includes carefully choosing materials for visible surfaces, installing adequate urban and port equipment, and generating thoughtful designs to create an interesting transition between the two sectors. Focusing the transition elements can increase the connectivity between port and city activities. Le Havre Port chose to do that when a district near a port area was under development, through the installation of a metal screen, showcasing port activities for the new inhabitants of the neighbourhood.
