Discover the “Blue Highways”: New York City’s approach to urban waterway logistics.

During this online annual meeting of the “River Port Cities” working group, we will examine the “Blue Highways” project, led by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYC/EDC) and the New York City Department of Transportation. This initiative explores how the city’s waterways can be used to transport goods, thereby relieving pressure on congested roads while promoting cleaner and more resilient urban logistics. Chris Canary, Vice President of the Ports, Waterfront, and Transportation Department at NYC/EDC, will present the project and answer questions about this major transportation initiative in the United States. This is a valuable opportunity to learn from New York City’s experience and exchange ideas about what this could mean for other river port cities. It will also be a key moment for the working group, providing an opportunity to reconvene and discuss its future activities.
