:The government of Gabon created OPRAG, 30th March, 1974. OPRAG (the office of ports and Harbors of Gabon) is a national public institution of the Government with both business and industrial nature. With a civil personality and financial autonomy, it is empowered by law to manage and exploit all of the nation’s harbours; Mayumba, Mondah, Port-Gentil, Libreville, Fernan-Vaz etc. All maritime activities; security, trade, repairs, berthing, docking, maintenance international certifications, policy formulation & regulation etc. relating to Gabon are administered by OPRAG. Increased trade with other countries has necessitated the expansion of port facilities across all harbours, with the aim of meeting the increasing demands of the modern maritime industry. OPRAG assures all seafarers of security and modern berthing facilities for a quick turnaround. His Excellency Ali BONGO ONDIMBA aims to raise the rank of GABON in emerging countries. Consequently, OPRAG (the office of ports and harbors of Gabon) aims to be an international benchmark in its infrastructure, its modern facilities and quality of its services by developing partnerships with the world’s ports for technical assistance and greater cooperation.
