The terminal is equipped with nearly all electric and zero-emission equipment, making it one of the greenest ports in America. It aims to improve cargo flow, enhance air quality, and strengthen competitiveness at the nation&#8217;s second-busiest seaport.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">LBCT is the world&#8217;s first all-electric, zero-emission mega terminal, a model for sustainable cargo operations. The project aligns with the Green Port Policy and the San Pedro Bay Ports Clean Air Action Plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The three-phase construction, which started in 2011, recently concluded, expanding the terminal to 300 acres. It features a completed container yard, administration building, and on-dock rail yard to handle 1.1 million TEUs annually, minimising truck traffic on local roads and freeways. The terminal boasts 14 modern ship-to-shore gantry cranes and uses shore power connections to reduce diesel engine usage while berthed.
