The lack of columns on the structure creates different usage possibilities for each level. On the first floor, there is a parking garage. On the second, it is possible to find the operational areas of the terminal, like immigration, ticketing, restaurants, and shops, as well as the administrative offices. The roof of the structure is dedicated to a public plaza. Open 24\/7, the rooftop is described as a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/osanbashi.jp\/en\/rooftop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">place for locals to relax<\/a>&nbsp;while appreciating the arrival and departure of ships.&nbsp;With green spaces and a succession of ramps and wooden decks, the roof offers some of the best views of the city, the bay, and shipping.&nbsp;Its proximity to Yamashita and Akaranega Parks creates an urban&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.archdaily.com\/554132\/ad-classics-yokohama-international-passenger-terminal-foreign-office-architects-foa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">parkscape<\/a>&nbsp;and, together with its unusual forms, guarantees a visual continuity for the waterfront.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">In response to Yokohama&rsquo;s<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/lealane\/2019\/03\/17\/yokohama-japans-second-city-provides-fast-growing-asian-cruise-hub-with-new-attractions\/?sh=151318ce6913\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&nbsp;growing status<\/a>&nbsp;as a cruise destination (with 190 stopovers in 2019,&nbsp;an increase of 25% from 2018), the city opened two new cruise terminals in 2019, one at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yokohamajapan.com\/cruise\/terminal\/daikoku\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daikoku Pier<\/a>&nbsp;and the other at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yokohamajapan.com\/cruise\/terminal\/shinko\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shinko Pier<\/a>. The second one, known as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yokohamajapan.com\/cruise\/terminal\/shinko\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Yokohama Hammerhead<\/a>, kept the idea of public connection.
