The City of Saint-Nazaire established a municipal commission to facilitate discussions on developing sites within the “Saint-Nazaire, a maritime and coastal ambition” initiative. Led by the mayor, the commission involves elected officials, citizens, associations, and institutions to identify challenges and opportunities. One significant project is the Méan-Penhoët urban park, occupying a central position among several locations near the shipyards. Spanning 2.5 hectares, the park will feature pathways, a wooded ridge, and a lookout point, serving as a gathering place for residents and hikers on the GR34 trail. Collaboratively designed with residents, the park aims to reconnect industrial-port activities with the Méan-Penhoët district while addressing flooding risks through an underground rainwater retention basin at the Pré-Gras car park.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the completion of the Boulevard des Apprentis rerouting in 2018, <\/span>the Méan-Penhoët district, recognised as the “heart of the district,”<\/span><\/a><\/span> is undergoing further development. This extensive redevelopment initiative, led by the CARENE Saint-Nazaire agglomeration, now focuses on the <\/span>Méan-Penhoët<\/span><\/a><\/span> urban park. This park aims to establish a green and gentle connection between the industrial port area and the residential district, providing attractive, secure, and well-designed public spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n
