The project aimed to open the port to the city while addressing the needs of the port&#8217;s infrastructure and acknowledging its impact on the socioeconomic fabric.&nbsp;Following the ITT, in June 2018, the four committee members awarded the contract to Junquera Arquitectos, in association with the consultancy MC Valnera, to produce a master plan for the project.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Aiming towards 2050, the plan allows for modifying the port-city interface without negatively impacting the port areas. On the synthesis document, it is possible to identify the main keys of the project:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" type=\"disc\">\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The future of Almeria&#8217;s port:<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&nbsp;directed to the growth of the port area, improvement of access, new waterfront, and connection with the city.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Rehabilitation of fishery port:<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&nbsp;addressing the creation of a joint concession for making the fishing port a mark of the city.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Pescader&iacute;a &#8211; La Chanca:<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&nbsp;To improve the connection and lower criminality in certain neighbourhoods close to the port.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Waterfront of the historical centre:<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">&nbsp;Following the planned changes, the strip that separates the historic centre and its expansion will be freed for new developments.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Levante dock and piers:<\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> Now hosting some administrative activities and the cruise ship terminal, the idea is to use the dock and other piers to enhance connectivity and promote pedestrian connections.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">In November of 2023, the project was awarded a golden medal from the <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.almeriport.com\/el-master-plan-del-puerto-ciudad-recibe-el-oro-especial-de-los-premios-de-arquitectura-de-almeria\/\">Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Almer&iacute;a (COAA)<\/a> for the capacity for transformation it can bring to the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Additional information<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!-- [if !supportLists]--><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><a href=\"https:\/\/apalmeria.com\/\">https:\/\/apalmeria.com\/<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><a href=\"https:\/\/almeria2030.es\/proyectos-en-curso\/\">https:\/\/almeria2030.es\/proyectos-en-curso\/<\/a> (Spanish)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.almeriport.com\/el-master-plan-del-puerto-ciudad-recibe-el-oro-especial-de-los-premios-de-arquitectura-de-almeria\/\">https:\/\/www.almeriport.com\/el-master-plan-del-puerto-ciudad-recibe-el-oro-especial-de-los-premios-de-arquitectura-de-almeria\/<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The&nbsp;Port Authority of Almeria, City Council,&nbsp;Junta de Andalucia, and Bah&iacute;a Almeriport Foundation agreed to create a Port-City master plan in 2017.
