Rong from Peking University&#8217;s Tsinghua. This joint effort emerged as the winners of the lighting plan competition for Ningbo, a city known as the &#8216;City of Three Rivers&#8217; due to its location at the convergence of the Yu Yao River, Feng Hua River, and Yong River. This collaborative spirit is a source of inspiration for other projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The lighting plan itself was realised in 2009 and is based on a concept that combines three colours, each one referring to one of the three rivers &ndash; gold for the Feng Hua River, blue for the YuYao, and blue and gold for the Yong River &ndash;, with white representing the tide. The plan uses colour changes to reveal the city&#8217;s maritime history, calling to mind the movement of the sailing ships that travelled up and down the waterways and the tides that carry water inland. &ldquo;When the tide rises, the Fenghua and YuYao rivers become white as the waters of the Yong River flow upstream; when the tide ebbs, the blue and gold run back down towards the centre of the city&rdquo;. <\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">A monument stands at the confluence of the rivers, a symbolic location of the first port. It consists of three large masts of gold, blue and white, changing colour like the rivers. The three changing colour motifs can also be found on the facades of the main buildings in the form of vertical columns of light reflected in the water.
