The HafenCity viewpoint was created in 2004 by Hamburg firm RHW Architekten<\/a>. Located at the foot of the “Marco Polo” tower and close to the cruise terminal, it has 360° panoramic views of Hamburg, the river, and the port areas on the far bank. In 2013, the structure was moved to the Baakenhafen district, but it maintained its status as a popular attraction.<\/span><\/p>\n

It forms an attractive reference point with its design, 13.20 metres height and orange colour. The building’s shape is reminiscent of a periscope and the outline of the port cranes. Its upper platform has a capacity for up to 25 people, allowing them to enjoy the spectacle of a fast-growing city undergoing extensive redevelopment, and an active port. From inside the structure, texts, and photos help visitors to identify the constant changes in the area. Furthermore, the element revitalises the port image, distancing it from the industrial ages. These implementation changes the perspectives between the port and surrounding neighbourhoods, improving the connection and qualities.<\/span><\/p>\n
