Part of the European Horizon 2020-funded MAGPIE project’s ambition is to transfer and upscale the solutions created throughout the project. In order to do this, it is important to understand the port-city ecosystem in which the technological and non-technological tools will be placed and how they interact with other ongoing projects. This was the aim of the MAGPIE Port-City workshop which was held in Wesel (Germany) on the 17th and 18th of September 2024. Actors from MAGPIE, the Deltaport ecosystem, and the region assembled to explore the synergies between the local and international projects. The event was co-organized by the MAGPIE members, namely Deltaport, Planco GmbH, and the AIVP.
The event welcomed almost 120 participants from the MAGPIE project and the local ecosystem. Caya Hein and Annabelle Odievre participated during these two days on behalf of the AIVP. Caya Hein also presented during the General Assembly of the project on the 16th of September as Work Package 2 (communication & dissemination) leader. The morning of the 17th was focused on presenting the MAGPIE project and its advances since its launch in 2021, understanding the importance of port sustainable development for both the region and citizens, and understanding how Deltaport can achieve both of these goals. In line with the AIVP objectives, discussions were encouraged during the afternoon between MAGPIE, DeltaPort, and regional actors. The two key themes of discussion were ports as supporters of both innovative transport solutions and the energy transition. On the 18th, internal work package meetings were held in parallel to a public session hosted by the Green Inland Ports project.
