New member interview: City of Calais

The city of Calais, a historic link between France, the North Sea, and the British Isles, lies on what is known as the Opal Coast, in the Pas-de-Calais département. Its commercial and fishing port has experienced rapid growth since merging with the nearby port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, and the city’s busy ferry terminal is the largest in France. Calais municipal authority works to ensure that the various port operations are carried out sustainably and with respect for the local community.

Wabtec – Participant in the AIVP Solutions Hub

The Solutions Hub is a part of the AIVP Venice Conference that highlights solutions created by our members that can address the challenges mentioned by speakers about the sustainable cruise sector. Wabtec Corporation is a solution provider for the transportation sector. It provides equipment, systems, digital solutions to the marine and rail industries. To create a more efficient, reliable, and sustainable maritime ecosystem, Wabtec provides solutions for Onshore Power Supply (OPS), mainly known in Italy as Cold Ironing. During the AIVP Venice Conference in November 2023, Wabtec will present its solutions regarding sustainable cruises during the Solutions Hub on the 17th of November. “Green Corridors” Series: Interview with the Port of Vancouver

Ports play a central role in Green Corridors as main proponents, working together with peers and other maritime and energy stakeholders. On October 2023, AIVP is launching the 2nd edition of its new distance learning programme created in partnership with the International Institute of Ports Cities (IIPC), based in Chile. Port of Seattle: A Community Advisory Program

The Port of Seattle is located in the State of Washington, Northwestern United States. In close connection with the City of Seattle and the King County, the Port authority of Seattle tries to continue its development in a sustainable way. The port commissioners are even elected by the county citizens. It has already been a few years now since a dialogue was initiated with the community of the Duwamish valley. The citizens who live there are the most impacted by the externalities generated by port operations. As the AIVP found this initiative particularly interesting and some first results are already seen, we conducted an interview with Christina Billingsley, Senior program manager, environmental engagement, and Dre Avila, Community volunteer from the Duwamish valley.
