2024 Kickoff: Cruises & Port Cities

The Cruises & Port Cities Working Group, led by Noemi Frascella and Jose Sanchez, met on March 6 to finalize their collaborative publication, highlighting insights from 23 members since 2021. The meeting covered progress updates, an action plan for 2024, and discussions on social integration and sustainability. Future directions were explored, making the session a valuable preview of the upcoming publication.

In 2024, our course program on sustainable port cities continues – Registration Open!

The program offer in-depth knowledge on subjects as diverse as governance, the circular economy and energy transition, underwater ecosystems in port areas, heritage and city-port identity, and the impact of criminal activity on the quality of life of port city residents. Speakers include experts, academics and international civil servants from various countries and continents. The course are designed to support you in the exercise of your professional practice, but also to create links, thus fostering fruitful collaboration on a local and global scale, as highlighted by many participants in the satisfaction surveys we have carried out. A new edition will take place in October 2024; registration is now open!

With Bordeaux, the Port Center family is growing!

The traditional New Year's wishes ceremony organized by the Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux was marked this year by the official launch of the project "Le Pavillon, Port Center Bordeaux." Led by the port, the metropolis, and the maritime union, the Port Center will be situated along the shores of the "bassins à flots," at the heart of both ship repair activities and the city center.

Since 2019, the Agenda 2030 by AIVP has been a strategic reference framework for many port cities around the world. With its 10 goals, this agenda sets a course towards the sustainable port city. Of course, it is all the more ambitious when the main stakeholders of a port are jointly committed. The approach adopted today by Port Atlantique La Rochelle is remarkable in this respect, as it brings together the region's private companies and the port authority.
