After lengthy deliberations, the port of Barcelona (Spain) was chosen as the winner of the prestigious distinction awarded by the European Sea Ports Organisation. The planned passenger terminal in Barcelona will house all of its activities in a single location, and will make them fully carbon-neutral by adopting shore power and providing automated shuttles connecting with the city centre. AIVP is a long-standing member of the ESPO Award jury. The judges paid particular attention to the cultural and societal aspects of projects like the cruise terminal at the old port of Tallinn (Estonia), the environmentally-responsible ferry terminal at Ceuta (Spain), and the highly original cultural network “Adrijo” in the Adriatic Sea (Italy and Croatia). Our association was represented by Théo Fortin, Head of International Projects and Cooperation.
