Port Cities are at the forefront of global pressing issues, such as the rising sea levels; the decarbonization of maritime transport and urban areas, and the protection of the oceans. The UN Ocean Conference to take place in 2025 in Nice, or the yearly COPs from the UNFCCC are key moments to accelerate policies and foster cooperation. Port City actors are implementing new functions and expanding their roles to answer to these challenges. But how are they promoting innovative solutions in the port city territories? And what are their expectations for these global events led by the UN? What are the demands?
During the AIVP World Conference of Lisbon 2024 we will issue a declaration gathering the expectations of port city actors on global issues. This webinar will explore innovative projects launched by the Port of Lisbon and other AIVP members and launch the first discussions, giving all interested actors time to reflect.
In the webinar we will also review the program of the 19th World Conference on Cities and Ports, that will take place from 27th to the 29th of November 2024 in the Champalimaud Foundation, in Lisbon. This year’s title, “Open Piers: Steering flows between people, planet, and port cities” will serve as a thread for our discussion
Join us for this interactive and enriching session and prepare to take an active part in discussions on the future of port cities.
