From 24 to 26 January 2023, Théo Fortin and Martial Dubuisson, from the AIVP permanent team, took part in the first edition of the POWERS Summit and Expo (Port Opportunities With Energy, Resilience And Sustainability) of the AAPA (American Association of Ports Authorities).
Theo, during a session entitled “Creating Coalitions for Sustainability”, presented the activities of our Association and the always positive results of a city-port-business cooperation. The European project MAGPIE (sMArt Green Ports as Integrated Efficient multimodal hubs), for which the AIVP is in charge of sharing good practices, was used as an example to illustrate these stakes of environmental and social impact of ports. Theo also referred to the case studies of Barcelona and Oslo, active members of the AIVP. The audience was composed of executives, presidents and directors from the largest American ports.
On this occasion, after a courtesy visit to our long-standing friends, Bermello Ajamil Partners, Théo and Martial were also able to discover the Port of Tampa Bay, in the company of Jose de Jesus and Chris Cooley, and then the Port of Miami, in the company of Eduardo Cuadra and Nimrod Simeon, who gave our representatives a very warm welcome. We thank them and hope to see them again in the network!
As a reminder, following a wish expressed by our President Edouard Philippe, Mayor of Le Havre and former Prime Minister, the AIVP has been committed since 2022 to a proactive approach to developing the association in the United States. This opening will benefit, through the sharing of practices and networking, the historical members of our Association.
