Activities
The Port Authority of Almería manages the Ports of Almería and Carboneras. The Port of Almería handles regular Ro-Ro services to North Africa: Melilla, Morocco and Algeria, with over 1,100,000 passengers and 20,000 trucks moving each year. It also moves bulk solids and general cargo for agriculture and the natural stone sector.
The History of Almería is linked to its port, and the port is located in the heart of the city. Steps are being taken to improve the Port-City relationship and to extend the water-sports basin and the port surroundings to which the citizens of Almería have access.
The Bahia Almeriport Foundation came into existence under the aegis of the principal public institutions and private companies of the province, with a view to favouring the competitiveness of the port-logistic sector, principally through the preparation of research studies, training programmes and activities to prospect the opening of new markets.
This work will be reformed by the 2007-2010 Strategic Plan, which is intended to convert the Bahía Almeriport Foundation into a centre of excellence, and a support of the first magnitude to assist in turning the Port of Almería into a motor for the economic and social development of the province, adhering to principles of quality and sustainability.
Our aim is to convert Almería into a Logistics Hub, establishing it as a key element in the social and economic development of the province, adhering to principles of excellence and sustainability.
