:The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), which trades under the name of Valenciaport, is the public body responsible for the running and managing three state-own ports located along an 80 km stretch of the spanish mediterranean coast:Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia. Valenciaport is the leading Mediterranean port in terms of commercial traffic, basically containerized cargo, thanks to its dynamic hinterland and an extensive maritime network connecting it to the world ‘s major ports. It’s geographical proximity to the spanish capital, along with an excellent road and rail network, have made PAV the natural port for Madrid and the Central Spain, as well as a key trade platform for other economically-important regions such as Castile La Mancha, Castile-Leon, Aragon, Murcia and Andalusia. In 2019, Valenciaport handled 81,06 million tons and 5,44 million TEUs. PAV is characterized by being a highly cohesive Port Community that has implemented innovative initiatives such as the Quality Mark a comprehensive Quality System and the tecnological platform Valenciaport PCS. Valenciaport’ leadership position is the result of: - Its privileged geographical location - A dynamic hinterland - A network of regular inter-oceanic and regional connections with the world’s major ports - Port and intermodal infrastructure that make port activities and goods transport highly efficient and with competitive charges and tariffs. - It guarantees the quality of their services. The Port of Valencia has regular passenger traffic to the islands and North Africa. A total of 677.111 passengers used these ferry services in 2019. The cruise sector has undergone a period of spectacular growth thanks to the combined efforts of Valencia Tourism and the Port Authority in recent years: in 2019 the city received 203 port calls with a total of 435.616 passengers.
